Ah, South African summer – at The Conservatory Restaurant, one of the top Overberg Restaurants, this means time for an exciting new menu. So if your Christmas lunch left you feeling less than inspired then feast your eyes on our colourful summer menu.
First up is our favourite starter for the season – Beetroot and Walnut Ravioli with Goat Cheese Crème. It’s the vision of flamboyance, yet subtle and sweet to taste. Other stars on the starter side are the Smoked Trout and Warm Potato Salad as well as the Smoky Tomato Gazpacho.
On to mains. We are most excited about the Char-Grilled Chicken Thigh with Asparagus, Mushrooms, Parsnip and Harissa – a beautifully balanced and visually pleasing meal.
For another of our favourites among the main dishes we bring the ocean to Swellendam with our fresh Pan Seared Hake with Cape Malay Pickled Onion and Root Vegetable Salad. Dried Chillies, coriander and turmeric are just some of the vibrant spices Chef Obie uses for the beautifully golden pickle – the crown of this dish.
Round off your feast with a light and sweet dessert. Our pick for dessert is probably the most representative of summer with an array of scrumptious summer fruits and berries. Chef Obie’s Summer Fruits Pavlova with Lemon Curd is hard to beat.
Come celebrate summer with us (and make up for that Christmas lunch) by booking your table at The Conservatory Restaurant – remember booking is essential.
Thanks as always to Elana van Zyl for the beautiful photographs.
