Swellendam Wedding
It was a Saturday morning on a beautiful, sunny but slightly chilly winter’s day in early August and a perfect day for the Swellendam wedding of Ounooi and Jacques. Although it was a small, intimate event with only their closest friends and family, there was an abundance of delight and joy in the air! We love intimate weddings, each bride becomes a life long friend as we travel their wedding journey with them. We are always so honoured to be able to share in their wonderful day of love and happiness.

Ounooi & Jacques’ wedding vows
They held their ceremony on the front steps of the grand old house and guests congregated around our tinkling fountain. Followed by champagne and delicious canapes, a wedding gift from our favourite patiesserie Tredici, on the porch.

Our superstar Fid and the fizz
We don’t usually offer lunch in The Conservatory, but we made a special exception for Ounooi and Jacques as their wedding was during our quieter period. We did a quick turnaround of tables after breakfast and Ada from Oak Lane Florist shook off her shoes and ran around decorating with the most exquisite flowers and table settings. The Conservatory shone in fresh whites, creams with splashes of colour and the warmth of the wood. Gorgeous.

Our new Head Chef, Obie, was a little nervous as it was his first big event in his new position, but Ounooi and Jacques requested ‘tuisgemaakte kos’ with no pretense or flash and Obie shone. We served a 3-course feast beginning with a Roasted Butternut Salad topped with Toasted Almonds & Feta.

A traditional South African menu
For the main course, buffet-style Moroccan Lamb with Baby Potatoes and Herb Chicken with Roasted Winter Vegetables. The lunch ended off with a Sticky Ginger Pudding with homemade Rooibos Ice Cream for dessert. A truly traditional South African feast.
Chef Obie had this to say: “It was a very successful day, everything worked out so well and I was happy to have done my first wedding. More to come I hope.

Buffet style delicious mains
Both Ounooi and Jacques are local Swellendammers making their big day a Swellendam wedding in every way. Just as we like to do, they sourced all their service providers for the day locally from our Swellendam Wedding Suppliers. We thank Elana van Zyl Photography for these wonderful photos.

Such love and joy
Ounooi and Jacques’ day was truly a celebration of a happily ever after, manifesting a new beginning for themselves and their families after making it through tough times in the past.

Many many many years of love to come
We wish them many many love and laughter filled years to come and to quote Jo-Maree (Ounooi’s daughter) “grandchildren by the dozen”.
