What can we say other than fabulous stay.  The room was amazing as were the staff.  Dinner... oone of the best meals ever (no exaggeration).  If planning a stay in Swellendam, do yourself a favour and stay here.  You won't regret it if only because of the unexpected hot water bottles at turndown and the car being washed before we left!

The small touches are what really made this hotel 5 star, from the hot water bottle put under the duvet during the turndown service to the complimentary car clean during breakfast.  You don't know what luxury is until you have stayed at Schoone Oordt.

• Honeymoon Suite

We were lucky enough to spend a night here on a driving holiday to the garden route. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning, and Schoone Oordt was perfect. The house itself is lovely, and felt steeped in warmth and affection as much as its history. We were made to feel genuinely welcome with a home-made tea, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. We loved the cosy wooden rooms, log fires, and hot water bottles! And lastly, we were sent on our way with an absolutely magnificent breakfast! Thank you Alison and team for such a lovely stay. Out of everywhere we visited this is top of the list to come back!

From the moment you get out of your car, Alison's team are there for you. Welcoming, helpful, diligent and knowledgeable. This is a VERY special place. Though formal in there attentiveness, all the staff are easy to talk to and engaging. All that said, there are two rather demanding permanent residents, Mr Ratchet and Fat-Cat (our name for him), the four legged cushions.

We just finished a three night July family break at Schoone Oordt. What an exceptional experience! In summary, just go there. From the outset the level of welcome and quality of service were at the highest level we have known. Our rooms were extremely comfortable with oversized beds and tasteful furnishings and very generous bathrooms complete with roll top baths, delightful toiletries and enormous walk in showers.

Their love for the property is obvious, and shines through in their hospitality. The staff is delightful and very helpful and the food was excellent. An excellent place to stop to break the drive from the Garden Route to Cape Town.
