The Christmas cheer is near and this year we’re starting early with Christmas gift shopping in Swellendam. You might be surprised at all the unique and luxurious finds in our beautiful little town.
Our first stop on our gift shopping spree in Swellendam is Tredici. Yip, this fabulous restaurant is curated with gorgeous gifting items. From home décor, luxurious linens, trendy leather bags to quirky kitchen accessories and loads of yummy confectionary gifts.
And for the wine connoisseur on your nice list this year Tredici holds a vast range of top wines from the Western Cape. Tredici is also conveniently situated next to the N2 so for those just passing through Swellendam on their way to their holiday destination. It’s the perfect pitstop for a takeaway or sit-down coffee, treats for the road and last-minute Christmas gift shopping in Swellendam.
Rain Africa is our next stop for fabulous spoils. This proudly Swellendam export with international acclaim and stores in Ireland and the USA produces luxury handmade bath and body products using natural ingredients of African origin. Rain Africa is an oasis and a stop at their flagship store is a must even if you’re just passing through Swellendam.
We’re especially loving their range of baby products and found 100% cotton handwoven towels that would make the perfect summer holiday gift. Rain Africa’s bath salts, handmade soaps or pretty bath fizz balls make beautiful stocking fillers. Or if you’re out to really spoil a loved one a gift voucher to one of their spa’s would be the ultimate treat.
If you’re gift shopping in Swellendam for the young and trendy, we can really recommend popping in to Ikigai Coffee Shop. This modern coffee shop is stocked with gorgeous and proudly South African leather bags from Burgundy Collective. There are also great gifts for the foodies in your family, we particularly love Banhoek Chilli Oil. You can also find beautiful wall prints and the coolest socks from Sexy Socks (because if you’re gifting socks, they’d have to at least be sexy, right?) at Ikigai Coffee Shop.
Of course, there are also loads of actual gift shops in Swellendam. One of our favourites, just down the road from Schoone Oordt, is Chocolate Etc. This little shop is a favourite amongst tourist for its delectable Belgium truffles, but the store also holds beautiful jewellery. So, if you’re looking to treat a special lady in your life, we can highly recommend you start at Chocolate Etc. We especially love the range of Ayala Bar jewellery (yes, you can find designer jewellery in Swellendam).
For all things hearty and handmade we love going to Hartsgoed. Another success story that originated in Swellendam and has since gone from strength to strength. Hartsgoed is best known for its beautiful handmade baby and children’s clothing and bedding. The store also holds an array of home décor items, unique wall art prints and stunning printed bags. If you can’t make it to the store though (fear not) Hartsgoed is also available online in their new online store.
So whether you’re visiting Swellendam or just passing through we’re pretty sure you’ll be able to find something special for everyone on your Christmas shopping list in our beautiful town.
